Program aimed at enhancing CIVIC CONSCIOUSNESS and DEFENSE PREPAREDENESS

Developing the ETHICS of SERVICE and PATRIOTISM



NSTP PROGRAMS:



Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)

Literacy Training Service (LTS)

Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS)



WHAT WILL BECOME OF NSTP GRADUATES?



National Reserve Service Corps (NSRC), tapped by the State for literacy and civic welfare activities

AFP Citizen Armed Force, subject to DND Requirements



MISSION OF NSRC:



To provide a trained and motivated manpower pool that can be tapped by the State for civic welfare, literacy and other similar endeavors in the service of the nation



FUNCTIONS:



To assist in the disaster preparedness, emergency responses and rehabilitation programs

To serve as an auxiliary to the DCC response units

To assist in the promotion of civic welfare activities

To assist in the implementation of literacy programs

To assist in the socio-economic development

To assist in environmental protection

To perform other similar endeavors



CWTS PROGRAM CONSISTS OF:



Lectures and participatory discussions

Team building and bonding activities designed to highlight values and skills formation, especially that of teamwork, leadership, communication and risk-taking in the context of Community Organization and Development, Management, Empowerment and Social Mobilization



POLITICS:



Includes the decision-making and decision enforcing process in any group that makes and enforces rules for its members

Process of making government policies or public policies

Tries to ensure that people can settle their differences



POLITICAL SCIENCE:



Systematic study of the state and government

GREEK “POLIS” which means CITY or what would be the equivalent of sovereign state

GREEK “SCIRE” which means TO KNOW

Basic knowledge of the state and the principles and ideas



SCOPE:



Political Theory

Public Law

Public Administration



POLITICAL THEORY:



Deals with the entire body of doctrines relating to the origin, form, behavior and purposes of the state



PUBLIC LAW (LAW THAT DEALS WITH THE):



Organization of the governments

Limitations upon government authority

Powers and duties of governmental offices and officers

Obligations of one state to another



SUBDIVISIONS OF PUBLIC LAW:



Constitutional Law (Fundamental law; defines the powers of government)

Administrative Law (Methods, functions, competence of administrative officials)

International Law (Body of rules which regulates the community of nations)





PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION:



Methods and Techniques used in actual management of state affairs by the three branches of government
